The historic Deering Estate at Cutler has received a TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence award. The accolade, which honors hospitality excellence, is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveller reviews on TripAdvisor, and is extended to qualifying businesses worldwide.
Dade Heritage Trust Honors William N. Irvine, Director of the Deering Estate at Cutler, with a Dade Heritage Trust Preservation Award
The Dade Heritage Trust presented William N. Irvine, Director of the Deering Estate at Cutler, with a Dade Heritage Trust (DHT) Preservation Award for an Individual, for his outstanding work in preserving Miami’s historic and environmental heritage. Irvine received this prestigious award at the DHT’s annual meeting and preservation awards celebration on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at the Coral Gables Museum. The DHT is Miami’s largest nonprofit historic preservation organization, that preserves and promotes the historic, architectural and environmental heritage of Miami-Dade County through advocacy, restoration and education.

Historic Deering Estate in Palmetto Bay is drawing quite a crowd If the sight of more than 5,000 century-old wine bottles doesn’t tell you that you’re amid history, then sniff the air. The nose knows the ghosts of Florida’s past float here. ”Here” is the Deering Estate at Cutler, a sprawling 444-acre historical home and nature preserve neatly tucked along the edge of Biscayne Bay and open to the public for tours and events. Increasingly, Deering is becoming a must-see site. Attendance jumped nearly 80 percent last year. And already 12,000 more people have passed through the estate than what was the entire attendance in 2007. Miami Herald Article
Parks wins Governor’s Sterling Award
The Miami-Dade Park and Recreation Department has received the 2009 Governor’s Sterling Award. The Award, presented by Governor Charlie Crist and the Florida Sterling Council, recognizes organizations and businesses in Florida that have successfully achieved performance excellence within their management and operations.

National Register of Historic Places
The Deering Estate was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on March 11, 1986. The National Register of Historic Places is the Nation’s official list of cultural resources worthy of preservation. Authorized under the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, the National Register is part of a national program to coordinate and support public and private efforts to identify, evaluate, and protect our historic and archeological resources. Properties listed in the Register include districts, sites, buildings, structures, and objects that are significant in American history, architecture, archeology, engineering, and culture. The National Register is administered by the National Park Service, which is part of the U.S. Department of the Interior.
The Society of American Travel Writers Phoenix Award
The Deering Estate at Cutler was selected as a 2004 Phoenix Award Winner. The Society of American Travel Writers Phoenix Awards give appropriate recognition for individuals or organizations actively involved in conservation, preservation, beautification and anti-pollution campaigns which further the growth and appeal of North American travel destinations. The Deering Estate at Cutler was nominated by Ethel Blum.
