Intersections: The nature of curiosity encourages us to move between boundaries, to explore new materials, and to expand our base of knowledge. Whether through structural creations, discoveries within a historical context, or through interdisciplinary interactions, the creatives in this exhibition investigate the act or fact of intersecting through a broad range of research, practice and materials.
Participants will include A Featured performance by National Water Dance Directed by Dale Andree with New World School of the Arts, Bridgeprep Academy of Arts & Minds, Cutler Bay Middle School, Conchita Espinosa Academy, South Florida Center for Percussive Arts, along with Miami dance companies – DanceNow Miami, Karen Peterson & Dancers, Augusto Soldade BrazzDance and Partners – Miami Dade College’s Earth Ethics Institute, MDC Honors College students from the Institute for Community Engagement and Democracy.

About National Water Dance, founded by artistic director Dale Andree with the support of Daniel Lewis and Miami Dance Futures, has been created to bring attention to the power and fragility of the nation’s waterways. Bringing dancers and musicians together from across the country and using dance as a form of social activism is, according to Ms Andree, “a force that can create social change.” Dancers from Alaska to Mississippi, from California to Massachusetts, will be joining Miami-Dade County dancers in this simultaneous national live streamed performance. “My desire in creating National Water Dance is to inspire artists of all ages to go beyond the studio and the stage with their art; to connect with the environment and realize the power of art in bringing awareness to environmental issues, particularly water,” said artistic director Dale Andree.
The Deering Estate offers complementary exhibit viewing nights, highlighting a variety of contemporary, historic, and visiting exhibitions inside the Historic homes. Exhibit Evenings are free of charge and offer the public a chance to interact with artists and curators and to experience a variety of exhibit tours and talks. Exhibit Evenings are held 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm on the third Wednesdays per annual schedule.
Cultural Arts Programming at the Deering Estate is made possible with the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners, the John S. and James L.
