The Deering Estate Poetry Project

Come join the conversation! While you are visiting the Estate, or at the end of your visit here, stop by the Poetry Kiosk on the second floor of the Richmond Cottage and share some of your thoughts with us. It could be your reaction to the unforgettable natural environment you experienced on the nature trails, or down by the boat basin taking in the view of Biscayne Bay. Or maybe your experience comes from being in the historic houses, as you retrace the steps of the Deerings, the Richmonds, the Addisons and the native Tekestas during the early years at “The Hunting Grounds.”

We will collect the words of our guests, and create a "Living Poem" that will be featured on the Deering Estate’s website. The Deering Estate Poetry Project is a collaborative piece of literary art representing today’s voices of the Deering Estate.
