2011 Fine Wine Sponsors

Wine tastings presented by Crown Wine & Spirits, are certain to confirm the Andes’ reputation as an internationally acclaimed wine region. “ There will be a wonderful selection of premium wines, and it is not uncommon for many of these to score in the 90’s at international wine competitions,” said Veronica Litton, Crown Wine Buyer.

The evening offers a hands-on opportunity to meet an international winemaker, winery owners, and also knowledgeable representatives from various vineyards. For the oenophiles, Alfonso Undurraga, a member of Chile’s wine pioneering family, is attending the event. Since 1885, the Undurraga’s have established a reputation for quality and innovation producing some of Chile’s most outstanding vintages. In 2005 his family sold Vina Undurraga, and within a year Alfonso and a partner started two new wineries, Vina Koyle and Terrapura. For guests at WOHM, he is pouring his premium EQ Sauvignon Blanc, and sharing his wealth of knowledge as the international marketing consultant for an alliance of Chile’s largest wine producers. Tastings are also available with Viña Garcés Silva, a boutique Chilean winery whose award-winning Amayna Wines, a Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, have received 90-92 points from such reputable magazines as Wine Enthusiast, Wine Spectator and Wine Advocate. Also from Chile are the Montes Premium Wines, considered to be the most expensive sold in their country. The company is only two-decades old, and the owners broke tradition when four men, who were not blood relatives, formed a partnership because they shared long-standing experience in the wine industry. The results have been extraordinary and the wines have received international acclaim.

Several wineries, including Antigal Winery & Estate, represent Argentina’s rich vineyards that are located in the foothills of Mendoza. Michael Dominguez, VP talks about his wines and offers tastings of Antigal Uno Malbec, and Adeuntus - Classic and Mediterranean, wines new to their line that are blends of grapes. Bodegas Norton, also located in Mendoza, is known in South America for their everyday drinking wines, and was nominated as one of the top 20 wineries in the world (Wine Spectator Magazine, 2006). Two of Bodegas Norton’s representatives are travelling to Miami offering wine samples that include Privada. The Familia Zuccardi is the largest family-owned winery in Argentina, and consistently produces an array of high quality wines at extremely reasonable prices that appeal to the international market. Leandro Lowi, the company’s export manager, will be offering samples of their higher end Zuccardi Malbec Q 2009 and Cabernet Sauvignon 2007.
