Non-Commercial Photo Shoot Permit Rules

Thank you for choosing the Deering Estate at Cutler at the site for your photo shoot. In addition to being a beautiful venue, the Deering Estate is an environmental, historical and archaeological preserve. We know that you and your party will share our concern for protecting this treasure with which we have been entrusted.

Permit Rules

1. Private/non-commercial photo shoots are allowed daily, between 10 am and 5 pm.

2. A private/non-commercial photo shoot permit must be purchased at the Main Gate between 10 am and 4 pm. Photo shoot permits are non-refundable.

3. With the purchase of a photo permit, a maximum of four (4) people will be admitted, including the photographer and subject, along  with basic equipment (camera, tripod).

4. Advance reservations are not necessary for photo sessions taking place on the grounds. Advanced reservations are required and strict limitations apply to photo shoots taking place in the buildings. Times, locations, props and equipment must have prior approval of the Events Coordinator. No flash photography is permitted insided the buildings.

5. There will be no dressing facilities available, and public restrooms are not to be obstructed in any way.

6. Buildings, furnishings, fixtures, plants and trees are not props and should not be moved, touched, or having anything hung on or attached to them.

7. Items such as rice, confetti, glitter, balloons, birdseed throwing, etc. is not permitted on the Estate. These items pose a threat to our natural environment and the wildlife.

8. Absolutely no alterations trimmings, or cutting of any plants or trees (including sea grass) is allowed. Wildlife may not be touched, disturbed or relocated.

9. Obstruction of areas to the general public is not allowed.
