Miami Watercolor Society Spring Exhibition

OPENING: Thursday, March 19, 6:30 pm, Richmond Cottage and Stone House
The Miami Watercolor Society will present their 36th Annual Spring Exhibition juried by watercolorist Elizabeth Kincaid at the Deering Estate. The artwork will be on exhibit in the Richmond Cottage and the Stone House from March 19th through April 17th. The opening night reception will be held on Thursday, March 19th at 6:30 pm and is free to the public.

The Miami Watercolor Society was founded in 1974 by a group of artists interested in exploring the watercolor medium. Membership has grown to over 150 artists today. The Society hosts exhibitions, workshops, demonstration projects and publications for all ages and skill levels. April 26 – May 15, 2009
"Come Together" A Celebration of Miami's Youth Artists
OPENING: Sunday, April 26, 10 am
Co-hosted by Students Offering Support and the Deering Estate at Cutler, Youth Arts Day and Music Fest features a month long visual and literary art exhibition in the Richmond Cottage, Stone House and Visitor Center.  All work is original and produced by student groups and individual youth artists. All forms of visual art are accepted into this non-juried exhibition.  Winners in various categoreis are chosen by a of group volunteer jurors that includes current Artists in Residence and alumni of our program.

May 17 - June 30, 2009
Fine Art Photograghy Exhibit, Cesar Barroso, “Endangered”
Artist in Residence, International Fine Art Photographer and conservationist, Cesar Barroso, will produce a three part exhibit, “Ecosphere,” chronicalling man's interaction with the living resources of our planet. Cesar completes his photo documentary on the Estate with a series of abstract and literal images of our local flora and fauna, highlighted endangered, threatened and species of special concern.

Affair En Plen Air Exhibition Finalists and Juried Group Exhibition in the Richmond Cottage. The ongoing mission of GroveHouse Artists is to educate the public by actively participating and assisting to organize events that promote local artists and help bring together community but we also organize and sponsor our own events which give the general public the opportunity to see artists at work.
