Youth Programs & Camp

The Living Classroom at the Deering Estate at Cutler serves as an environmental education center for all of Miami-Dade County, providing hands-on ecology, geology, marine biology, archeology, history and art curricula to community youth and the general public.  With some of the highest quality, most diverse natural resources remaining in Miami-Dade County, as well as a host of biologists and naturalists to share their knowledge, our Living Classroom also educates the community about preserving our biodiversity through responsible environmental stewardship.

We strive to lead by example in the fields of environmental sustainability and resource management.  All of our programs are correlated to the Sunshine State Standards and are FCAT compatible.  Our curricula are structured to engage participants in interactive, positive and balanced activities that help foster an understanding, appreciation and critical appraisal of the world around them.
