When school is out, join us for mini-camp, a fun and educational science-based day camp!
The Deering Estate offers Mini-Camp for students on select Teacher Planning Days for the 2017-2018 School Year.
Mini-Camp is held from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Before care is from 7:30 am to 9:00 am.
Late pick-up is available for an additional fee.
Cost: $40 per day, per child.
September 21, 2017 “Tail to Scales”
Learn about the adaptations of reptiles and fishes that are found in our backyard. Learn about the impacts that invasive species have and the importance of the endangered gopher tortoise.
October 2, 2017 “Out of the Blue”
With 450 acres to explore, the Deering Estate is the perfect place to learn about South Florida’s ecosystems. We will spend the day learning about some of the coastal and marine ecosystems found in our Blue Planet.
October 27, 2017 “Hike and Strike”
Explore the endangered Pine Rocklands and the importance that fire plays in maintaining a healthy ecosystem.
January 19, 2018 “Science Safari”
Venture into Hardwood Hammocks, Pine Rockland’s, Mangrove forest, and historic wetlands in an adventure-packed day focused on nature, science, and exploration.
March 23, 2018 “Into the Abyss”
Learn about the importance of our oceans and about the incredible things found deep into the abyss.
April 20, 2018 “Reef Relief”
Conduct experiments that illustrate the threats coral reefs are faced with. Learn about coral reefs, sea grasses, and the animals that inhabit these ecosystems.
